Capital M is closing on September 17
The restaurant with the best view in Beijing is soon to be no more
Terrible news, lovers of fine wine and some of the prettiest plates we've ever laid fork on; Capital M, one of our favourite spots in Beijing and home of our monthly film screening series, will not renew its current lease on September 17. The luxe venue is part of the Aussie culinary powerhouse M Restaurant Group, which has several eateries in Shanghai, and has the potential to reopen in another location, although the likelihood of this phoenix-style rise from the saffron-scented ashes is very uncertain at the moment.

How foodies in Beijing are feeling right now.
Dammit, we're in sore need of some of M's delicious pavlova to soak up our bitterness at another of the capital's quintessential restaurants biting the dust, at least for now. If you're as gutted as us gang of gluttons are, head down to Capital M for a farewell dinner, as you've only got this weekend to make the most of that breathtaking view over Tiananmen Square.
